What Is Strategic Engagement?

Strategic engagement is a structured, transparent, and constructive process for building informed dialogue with institutions, industry peers, and stakeholders who are affected by, or have a legitimate interest in, a regulatory process.

Although it is sometimes confused with lobbying or informal attempts to influence decision-making, strategic engagement is broader: it is grounded in transparency, evidence, and constructive dialogue.

Participants may include government institutions, regulatory bodies, chambers of commerce, industry associations, investors, businesses, academic experts, media representatives, civil society organizations, and other relevant groups.

Each group brings distinct perspectives and priorities. Effective engagement helps companies understand those perspectives, build institutional trust, and contribute to better-informed outcomes with broader support.
